About the role:
We are looking for talented, curious, and energetic SQL System Reliability Engineers to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in SQL, system engineering, and cyber security.
Main responsibilities:
- In collaboration with our Database Administrators (DBAs), you will identify, analyze, and remediate any cyber security threats or vulnerabilities within our databases and systems. This includes implementing security patches, updating security protocols, and ensuring the overall security integrity of our systems.
- Analyze our databases, extract meaningful insights, and make data-driven recommendations to improve system performance and reliability.
- Manage framework upgrades, ensuring compatibility and stability of the system following each upgrade.
- Be responsible for initial incident triage, identifying the severity of incidents, coordinating with the appropriate teams, and ensuring incidents are resolved promptly.
- Prepare and manage the deployment of software releases, ensuring all necessary checks and balances are in place for a successful deployment.
- Provide support for lower environment resiliency, addressing any issues or outages that occur, and implementing solutions to prevent future occurrences.
- Provide support to our DevOps team, assisting in the development and maintenance of our continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
- Optimize SQL queries for maximum speed and efficiency, and normalize databases to eliminate redundancy and improve data integrity.
- Manage user accounts, ensuring they are properly maintained and secure.
- Oversee the cleanup of data in lower environments, ensuring data integrity and system efficiency.
Key requirements:
- Proven experience as a SQL System Reliability Engineer or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and system engineering principles.
- Knowledge of cyber security best practices and remediation techniques.
- Experience with data analysis, framework upgrades, and incident management.
- Familiarity with deployment administration and DevOps support.
- Experience with SQL query optimization and database normalization.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
